Dr. Terri Kennedy Leads Workshops for Mentoring in Medicine
On Saturday, December 8th, 2007, Dr. Terri Kennedy led a series of Power Living® Stress Management workshops for the "Mentoring in Medicine" Conference in New York. The program finds and nurtures socioeconomically disadvantaged students in urban schools from third grade on to help them develop the tools necessary to successfully achieve their goal of becoming a health care professional. The keynote speaker for the event was the Honorable Congressman Charles Rangel.

Phase I of the Young PWR® Brokers Pilot Ends with Success
On Tuesday, November 27th, 2007, the first phase of the Young PWR® Brokers Pilot at the Dorothy Day Apartments in Harlem ended. The young ladies presented their final projects and toasted their success (with sparkling apple cider, of course!). The program teaches positive self-esteem life skills to youth in urban areas. We are now seeking capacity-building funds to formally create the nonprofit and expand the program. The pre-teen/teen ladies at Dorothy Day - who were originally very hard to reach - now want to continue with another Young PWR® Brokers program for Winter/Spring 2008.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Speaks at Universal Sisters Event in New York
On Saturday, November 3rd, 2007, Dr. Terri Kennedy was the keynote luncheon speaker for the Universal Sisters: Celebrating Health & Soul Event at the Hilton Hotel in New York. She presented a talk titled: "Unleash your True PWR®: Purpose With Results®." She also led an interactive break-out session introducing the "Power Living®: Mini-Escapes" energy management techniques. The event reached over 700 women interested in transforming their lives, and was held in partnership with Abyssinian Baptist Church with major national sponsors such as Wal*Mart and L'Oreal.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Writes Column for LEAD
Dr. Terri Kennedy has written a column for Lead: The National Black MBA Association - New York Metro Chapter Quarterly. In a dedicated personal development column created for her to share the Power Living® philosophy, she introduces "The Power of Purpose."

Dr. Terri Kennedy Contributes to AARP Newsletter
Dr. Terri Kennedy is a health contributor to the Winter 2007 AARP newsletter - offering advice on ways to prevent and combat indigestion.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Participates in Touro Grand Opening
On Monday, October 15th, 2007, Dr. Terri Kennedy participated in the Grand Opening Celebration of the new Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harlem (TOUROCOM) held at the world-famous Apollo Theater. Fifty kindergarden children from the Class of 2024 wearing white lab coats marched down the aisle at the theater with the 135-member inaugural Class of 2011, reflecting the new school's goal of encouraging minorities to become medical professionals and practice in their communities. House Ways & Means Committee Chair Charles B. Rangel, who represents Harlem in Congress, addressed the students and guests regarding TOUROCOM and his Project Aspire, which he said "will become the great centerpiece of osteopathic medicine and health care in America."

Dr. Terri Kennedy Participates in Expert Empowerment Panel
On Thursday, October 11th, 2007, Dr. Terri Kennedy participated in an Expert Empowerment Panel for a major advertising agency in New York. She joined other dynamic business owners and gave advice on how to empower women. She also led an interactive relaxation and stress management session for a group of the firm's executives.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Participates in HOPE Center Celebration
On Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007, Dr. Terri Kennedy participated in the Grand Opening Celebration of the HOPE Center, Harlem located at 2511 Frederick Douglass Boulevard at 135th Street. The Hope Center is a branch of Operation HOPE, a non-profit that seeks to provide economic tools and services to its constituencies (www.operationhope.org). The keynote speaker was civil rights icon Ambassador Andrew Young, who is the HOPE Global Spokesman. The master of ceremonies for the event was Lloyd Williams, President of the Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce. Other special guests included Reverend Calvin O. Butts of Abyssinian Baptist Church, President of E*TRADE Bank Arlen Gelbard, model Petra Nemcova and artist Alexandra Nechita. Operation HOPE's Founder, Chairman and CEO is Dr. Kennedy's brother-in-law, John Hope Bryant.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Elected Chair of the Board of Yoga Alliance
On Friday, September 28th, 2007, Dr. Terri Kennedy was elected Chair of the Board of Yoga Alliance - the national non-profit that sets the standards for yoga teaching in the United States (www.yogaalliance.org). She is also Interim President / CEO and manages the staff in Maryland. She has been on the YA Board since 2004 and became Acting Chair in March 2007. As the new Chair, she now writes a bi-monthly "Message from the Chair" column for Yoga Matters - a newsletter that goes out to 18,000 Registered Yoga Teachers and over 800 Registered Yoga Studios across the country.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Attends Yoga Journal Conference in Colorado
From Thursday, September 27th through Sunday, September 30th, 2007, Dr. Terri Kennedy was in Estes Park, Colorado for the Yoga Journal Conference and to lead the Yoga Alliance Face-to-Face Board Meeting as Acting Chair of the Board.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Launches Young PWR® Brokers Program
On Tuesday, September 18, 2007, Dr. Terri Kennedy launched the first official Young PWR® Brokers Program in New York supported by a grant from the Maurice Amado Foundation. Over an 8-week period, she will be teaching positive life skills to young girls ages 11 - 16 at the Dorothy Day Apartments in Harlem, which houses formerly homeless families.

On Saturday, September 15th, 2007, Dr. Terri Kennedy was the morning keynote speaker for the Sister to Sister International Conference entitled "Sisters Beating the Odds and Claiming Wellness" at the Westchester Marriott in New York (www.stsi.org). She joined Essence Editorial Director Susan L. Taylor, who was the luncheon keynote, as well as other powerful women including State Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins, journalist Carol Jenkins, PR expert Terrie Williams, and Managing Director at Morgan Stanley Carla Harris.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Speaks at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine
On Thursday, September 6, 2007, Dr. Terri Kennedy presented a talk on "Exploring the Body, Mind, Spirit Connection" at the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in New York (www.touro.edu/med). Her interactive talk provided an overview of research on the body-mind-spirit link, as well as actual exercises for the future physicians to experience the effects of movement, breath, and mental focus.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Participates in The First Ladies of Harlem Retreat
On Friday, August 17, 2007 and Saturday, August 18, 2007, Dr. Terri Kennedy led a wellness retreat for The First Ladies of Harlem - the wives of some of the most prominent preachers in Harlem. The retreat was held at the Edith Macy Conference Center in Briarcliff Manor, New York. 

Dr. Terri Kennedy Featured as Expert on Martha Stewart Living Radio
On Thursday, July 5, 2007, Dr. Terri Kennedy was the health and wellness expert on "The Body + Soul Hour" on Martha Stewart Living Radio, 12pm - 1pm ET on Channel 112 on the Sirius Satellite Radio Network. She joined host Betsy Karetnick and guest host Kate Hanley (who wrote a story on Terri for Yoga Journal), and talked about nutrition, mind-body wellness, balanced fitness, and personal development.

Dr. Terri Kennedy is mentioned as a yoga teacher/master in the Letters to the Editor in the August 2007 issue of Vanity Fair.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Participates in World Peace Festival
On Saturday, June 23, 2007, Dr. Terri Kennedy participated in the World Peace Festival at the New India House in New York. She joined in some wonderful sessions by masters such as Swami Ramananda and Sharma Mittra. The highlight of the event was the presence of Swami Bua - the oldest known living yogi who is now 119 years old.

Dr. Terri Kennedy Speaks for Glamour's Top 10 College Women
On Wednesday, June 6, 2007, Dr. Terri Kennedy shared advice with Glamour's Top 10 College Women in America in New York. She participated in the 50th Anniversary of the contest, celebrating alongside other past winners such as Martha Stewart and Sheryl Lee Ralph. Terri was a winner in 1988.

From Friday, June 1 through Sunday, June 3, 2007, Dr. Terri Kennedy celebrated her 15th year reunion at Harvard Business School in Boston. She joined classmates from around the world who are pioneers/CEOs in just about every industry - from food and fashion to healthcare and hedge funds. 

Terri Kennedy Participates in Training with Srivatsa Ramaswami
Throughout the month of May 2007, Terri Kennedy had the pleasure of participating in an intensive vinyasa yoga training with Srivatsa Ramaswami who was visiting from India. Ramaswami has taught yoga for more than twenty years in India and the United States.

Terri Kennedy Receives Ph.D. in World Religions from Universal University
On Thursday, May 31, 2007, Terri Kennedy received her Ph.D. in World Religions from Universal University in Florida. The University focuses on theology and holistic health.

Terri Kennedy Mentors for Young Women's Leadership Foundation
On Wednesday April 25, 2007, Terri Kennedy was a mentor for the Young Women's Leadership Foundation's "Brag Party" held at Madison Square Garden.

Power Living Enterprises, Inc. Awarded Contract with City of New York
Power Living Enterprises, Inc. was awarded a contract with the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation to teach yoga techniques as a part of the special "Shape Up New York" program. The program encourages families to get in shape by joining free fitness programs throughout the city. Terri Kennedy is offering free yoga classes every Wednesday at P.S. 154 on 250 West 127th Street (between 7th and 8th) in Harlem. The first session is from 4:15pm to 5:15pm and the second is from 5:25pm to 6:25pm. All are welcome.  

Terri Kennedy Named Acting Chair of Yoga Alliance Board
On Friday, March 9, 2007, Terri Kennedy was elected Vice Chair and then was named Acting Chair of the Yoga Alliance Board. Yoga Alliance is the national organization which sets standards for yoga in the United States (www.yogaalliance.org). She is the first person of color to hold this executive position with the organization.

Terri Kennedy Practices with Tao Porchon-Lynch
On Saturday, April 7, 2007, Terri Kennedy had the pleasure of participating in a master class with Tao Porchon-Lynch who, at 88 years old, is still teaching yoga. She has taught Yoga in India, France, and the United States since 1968. Extremely inspiring, she is stronger and more flexible than many people in their 30s!
